THE LATEST ON OUR QUIZ CEREMONY PREPARATION

The administration of the Kings College is seriously preparing for the inaugural ceremony of the Prempeh.Org Inter-Houses Science & Maths Quizes League.

The Assistant Headmaster, Mr. Yeboah spoke to us today about the chairs that they are hiring and other things. He informed us that the inauguration is not as easy as we think, since they have to paint the entrance of the school and the alleys as well as the Appian way since so many people will be coming especially the dignitaries.

We also had to make plans for refreshments to be served the special guests and others who will be present, including the news and television media. Such refreshments will be served at the conference room next to the Headmaster's office.

Our invitation letters were sent to three Distinguished Guests who are to grace the occasion and so far the responses have been excellent. They only expressed concern about the date, which appears to conflict with their schedules. This means that we may need to postpone the ceremony.

We will announce the names of the guests at a later date.

While the College is busy preparing, we the organizers are also busy putting certain things in place. Items that are being designed for the contestants are progressing smoothly. We are designing special Inter-Houses Quizes League t-shirts for the quiz participants. These will be handed out to the 54 contestants along with prempeh.org quizes league excercise books, pens and pencils. Among the many items to be given out on the inaugural day are prempeh.org quizes league keyholders.

The designer is Senior Dwomoh, who has already developed the template. He repalced the Suban ne Nimdee under the crest with www.prempeh.org and made the shirts specific for each quiz participant. Since there is a shortage of fruit of the loom in the country now, he designed them with a more expensive shirt. These items are intended to honour the participants and the Quiz masters, that is why they are going to be the only beneficiaries. Later during the academic year, some will be made for the rest of the Sofoline community.

We intend to invite certain sister schools in Kumasi, particularly our beloved Yaa Asantewaa Girls.

We are also re-creating certain sections of our website because of the traffic boom. Not only are we buying television advertisement time, we are also mindful that the US media will be filming a documentary of our great school. And since we anticipate that the website will be vital in that area, we are putting ceratin things in order. The photo gallery is being re-designed. The layout of the most popular What's New is also being changed.

However, the website's most important task this week is to pay the matrons who stayed behind to feed the 12 selected contestants during the vacation.

The Quizes League trophy, which was taken from Mr. Yeboah upon our discovery of a typographical error in the engravement, will be returned to the campus on Friday. The trophy is considered more elegant than the National Quiz trophy and will likely embarass the organizers of the prestigious national quiz competition.
