Footballers bring home honours

Monday, July 3, 2006

Sampson Otoo, considered the best goalkeeper will be the national Under-17 team goalkeeper

Although our gallant footballers could not bring home the trophy, they brought home honours. Indeed, they did not disgrace themselves but fought with all the power within them.

Luck was not on the side of our boys so they lost. Notwithstanding, the captain of the soccer team who is a member of the National U-17 team won the overall best defender award. Previously, Ahmed was the national footballer of the year.

Sampson Otoo took home the best goalkeeper award. Otoo is also one of the players who joins the Under 17 team. It came as no surprise when he was chosen as the best goalkeeper since he conceded only a goal. Otoo is the reigning Ashanti Regional Best Goalkeeper and now the nation's best for his age-group.

Charles Brenya, popularly known as Striker, also took home the Golden boot as he scored four goals in the just ended tournament.

Though Charles was hurt before Prempeh's game, he scored 2 goals when he was fit to play in the match against Nalerigu.

The headmaster honours the players on Wednesday a morning assembly.
