It appears that the Kumasi press did not patronise the early stages of the national Milo football competition because
of a lack of confidence in the Prempeh team.
Owing to our controversial defeat in the Ashanti Milo final -- our sole blemish this whole academic year -- the radio stations were not
readily convinced that we could do it. It wasn't until we reached the semi finals that they finally sent their staff to Koforidua to follow
us.
Most of the FM stations are there to report on the event, including our very own Honourable Prince of OTEC FM.
In a related news, our coverage of the Milo has once again been
praised by the radio press, calling it "better than the Ghana News Agency."
The radio stations normally compile their reports from GNA news articles, including those on Ghanaweb. But the one that they find most useful and reader-friendly
is the one they find on prempeh.org. Instead of just the simple broad reportage of an event, prempeh.org gives specific incidents and stories that usually enhances
the radio experience.
Such facts, like the revelation that Obuasi Sec Tech was removed from the semi finals because they had some old boys play for them, and the bizzare injury to Charles Brenya, are never
uncovered by the more professional heavy-budget organizations such as the GNA.
In fact, when we went to cover the 2005 Inter-Regional Sports Festival in Sunyani, the GNA could not appear there
to report on some of the events. Yet we did it with interview of some of the great athletes.
