We are here at the Manhyia Palace for a reception by the Ashanti King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The boys have just presented the trophy to the King, who is the Patron of the College.
The Asantehene received the trophy and said: "You've brought glory to Asanteman. Everything
about Prempeh is unique. Asante Chiefs are educated there, so we don't want any disgrace coming
to this school."
The Asantehene himself could be considered an oldboy of Prempeh: Headmaster A.D. Lewis accepted the young Kwaku Dua to form one and the future King enrolled at Prempeh for a day before his uncle, Oheneba Mensah Bonsu, came to take him away to Sefwi Secondary, because of the large number of royals that were at Prempeh in those days.
Prempeh College -- 2005 National Champions
We have taken several rolls of film and are about to show the world this spectacular ceremony marking the crowning of Prempeh as NATIONAL champions of football.
We have pictures of the famous trophy with the players and headmaster; the teachers and old boys present.
The Headmaster has been so impressed with our work that he gave the webmaster a hug for "the excellent work."
Few hours ago, the national organizer of the prestigious Nestle Milo national football competition accompanied Prempeh's famous
soccer team to OTEC FM in Kumasi this morning. Prempeh.org was right there with them at the studio reporting.
At OTEC FM, our sports master, Mr. Lartey; Ahmed Amoako and the deputy sports, master
Mr. Ofosuhene, together with the national organizer of the prestigious competition
spoke on OTEC's sports program, hosted by the one and only Prince, who is also an Amanfoo.
Eight of our players have been selected to play in the Ghana national
team academy, which means that they could be playing in under-17 in the future. If they all qualify,
Prempeh could have nine players in the national soccer team.
