National Debating Competition 2003/04

Prempeh wins inter-district Debate Championship

On Friday,13th february, the only college in the Ashanti Kingdom had a "real fun" of the valentine before the D-day as they taught the schools in the Northern sector that they are no average school as compared to the others who are discouraged anytime they falter in one way or the other. After beating the schools in the Ashanti Region, Nana Prempeh's Golden School represented the region to compete for "the school that qualifies to represent the Northern sector" in the Independence Day Debate organised by the government of Ghana under the leadership of His Excellency, Senior John Agyekum Kufuor. "We have a problem with the gathering of information because the internet cafe on campus is not working. Please let the old boys come to our aid so that we can post information on the site as rapidly as possible" said P.Y (Papa Yaw Ohene Konadu) when he was interviewed a week before their departure to Tamale. The contestants left no stone unturned to lift the flag of Mother Prempeh on high. The schools that represented the various regions were:

  • Prempeh College (Ashanti Region)
  • St.Charles Seminary (Northern Region)
  • Ola Girls Sec (Brong Ahafo)
  • St.Francis Seminary (Upper West)
  • Navrongo Sec.Sch (Upper East)

In the first round Prempeh had to battle with the giants of the Brong Ahafo region and succeeded in beating them 31/30. They went ahead to the final to meet St.Francis Seminary and defeated by 2 points difference (33/31). Prempeh thus represents the Northern Sector for the national debate on 6th March. Amanfoo on Legon campus will be there to cheer our boys up. Prempeh.org will get you all the information that you need about this debate as well as the pictures.

This is the year of the Amanfoo.
