Prempeh College today defeated Opoku Ware Senior High at the ongoing Ashanti
Regional debate competition. Prempeh College won the Zone A group that is
made up of Opoku Ware, Yaa Asantewaa, St Louis, Kumasi Academy, Kumasi
Anglican, T.I Ahmadiyya and Technology Secondary.
The debaters were made to debate for and against on the motion: "Ethnic
organisation in tertiary institutions: a recipe of national disunity".
Prempeh eventually came out with 32 points while OWASS, recently renamed O-WASH (Opoku Ware Senior High) had 28. Samuel,
the Debaters president and a representative of the team that defeated Opoku
Ware today said, they aim to make it to the Nationals and beat all the
schools in Ghana.
Prempeh will next week meet Konongo Odumasi who were crowned champions in
the Zone B of the regional debate to choose the winner who will represent
the region in the National Independence Debating Competition in March 2008.
The boys are bent on following the trails of the great Gyeabuor and P.Y who
lifted the National trophy for the college some few years ago.
