National Debating Competition 2005/06
Debaters leave for Cape Coast
Thursday, November 10, 2005
The Prempeh debating team leaves tomorrow for Cape Coast, where they
will compete against several schools. The trip is to prepare the boys
for the national debate championship which begins on Tuesday, November 15, 2005,
the very day that the football team begins defense of the national football title.
The debaters will compete against Holy Child Girls, St. Augustine's, Aggrey Memorial
and the famous Adisadel.
Wesley Girls sent a letter to Prempeh that they are not ready yet so they cannot
compete with us at this time.
It may be recalled that in August 2005, prempeh.org sent as part of our Operation
Tripple Crown sponsorship package funds for our debaters to tour Cape Coast with
our school quiz team. That money is finally being used finally for that trip after the debaters
trained at school for about 2 months.
The twelve selected quiz contestants will join them on the trip.
William Demitiah's experience will prove vital to the debating team. As a mere form one boy two years ago,
he helped Prempeh win the national trophy. Now, as an Assistant Senior Prefect, his debating skills has certainly
improved.
This is the year Prempeh is targeting three national trophies -- a quest that Prempeh.org
has named the Operation Tripple Crown. We want to win the national
Independence debating competition, the Milo national football championship and the national
Science & Maths Quiz championship.
