Batule to make Prempeh proud

Thursday, February 2, 2006

The annual Ashanti Inter-Schools cross-country competition will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2006.

Elijah, the record-breaker will lead Prempeh's team

Senior Elijah Batule of Pearson House, the Assistant Sports Prefect, is set to make Prempeh College proud this weekend.

Elijah, who set a new Prempeh record of 40 minutes in last term's inter-houses cross country, is going to be the leading representative of Prempeh in the annual competition.

The competition takes place at the Opoku Ware Secondary School. It is going to be very keen as competitors from schools like Kumasi Anglican and Juaben Secondary, who have been swapping the first position with Prempeh over the years, will all be present.

With Batule competing on the Santasi grounds, there will be so much opposition as the Santasi boys are expected to boo and make sure he is eliminated in the competition.

Speaking to Batule today, he said, "I am anticipating an atmosphere like that and I know that will really help me win since I would not like to disgrace myself and my college."

This is going to be a real time to test the stamina of the boys from the various schools. The Prempeh athletes are bent on winning and the sports masters are also doing their very best to see to that.

The boys will undertake their final training tomorrow at dawn.
