Benjamen "Experienced Ansuade"
Acolatse
Undoubtedly, this Assistant Sports Prefect is one of the best Hockey stars of all time.
He was a key member of the highly-esteemed 1986 Hockey team. He also represented the Ashanti Region. He helped Prempeh win the table tennis cup twice during his time. A great hero was he.
Abu Ibrahim
The heart of the football team's defence.
With him at the No. 5 position, opponents were powerless. A commander of
the school cadet corps, and the only cadet in national history to command/lead
National Independence Day parade for 3 consecutive years, he also played
hockey and threw discus and shot-putt.
Elias Boadu
A key member of the school team during
his days at Prempeh and the livewire of the 1985 victorious football champs.
A list of Prempeh's greatest athletes would not be complete without his
name. A master of the 800, 1500, 5000, and 10000 meters events. Paired
with his Butler Housemate, Aluta, they placed 1st-2nd in all these events
at the stadium. He brought innumerable cross-country honours to
our beloved school.
Anthony "Capito" Amoako
For four long years he reigned as the
"Javelin King" of Ashanti. The man couldn't be stopped. Definitely
the best Prempeh javelin thrower ever. His best throw of 59.67 ranks 6th on Ghana's all-time list.
Anthony "Zico" Oduro
A great starter for the outstanding 4
x 100 meters squad that featured Babylonia of Pearson, Arrow of Ramseyer
and Datus of Ramseyer. So inspirational was he. Zico was just great.
Charles "Charlie Blue"
Gyan
He dominated the hurdles from Form 4 until
his Sports Prefectship at Upper Six. One of the outstanding hurdlers of
his time.
Kwadwo "Osco" Osei
Read about him here.
A.F "Aluta" Frimpong
One of the greatest long distance runners
ever. The man couldn't be stopped. Dominated the 800, 1500, 5000, 10000
and cross country events for a long time. Very highly talented.
Sam "Alooma" Borquaye
Of all the inductees in this hall of fame,
he is the one who received the most votes and compliments from his peers.
"He did it all," said one classmate. "It was all Alooma,"
said another. Undoubtedly one of the greatest Ashanti Regional Athletes
of all time. Who can forget all the stiff competition he faced at campus
inter-house athletics during the star-studded era? Every man's goal was
to overtake Alooma. Take him, Castro, Wallacas, Santo, Bosco, Sabata and
Sabatey, and there you have it--a championship group!!
Dzifa
A great tripple jumper. The Magician.
Kwadwo Duodu
national athletics and table tennis and hockey legend who is renowned for his versatility. While at Prempeh, the great Duodu represented the school in almost every sporting discipline: hockey, basketball, volley, table-tennis and athletics (hurdling). He brought home so many table tennis titles before defecting to AMASS for his A-Levels. The national hurdler once owned the national records in both 110m and the 400m hurdles. His time of 53.5secs in the 400m hurdles now ranks 10th on Ghana's all-time list, while his time of 14.61secs in the 110m hurdles now ranks 5th. Moreover, Duodu was unbeatable in table tennis in Ghana while he was at Prempeh. He was the most dominant and feared table tennis star of his time, until he was beaten by Prempeh's SO Koranteng in the finals of inter-collegiate competition while he (Duodu) was then a student of AMASS. Because beating Kojo Duodu was so difficult and almost impossible to do, his defection to AMASS actually stimulated Prempeh's athletes to work harder since Duodu was now an opponent. And by training so hard, several Prempeh players besides Koranteng achieved greatness by succesfully overcoming the supremacy of the great Kojo Duodu: Ralph Minter beat Duodu in the 1980 100m hurdles finals.
Andrew "Archiman" Manu
During his time (1964-71), he was one of the greatest hockey players. He later played for the Ghana national Team while at Legon.
