Results of Field events of Day 1 of Superzonals 2006
Monday, February 27, 2006
Today marked the beginning of the Super Zonals athletic competition and just
as was expected all the schools were there to cheer their athletes
up. The decision by the headmaster, Mr Owusu-Achiaw to permit our boys to
go support
the athletes is a feather in his cap as it paid some dividends
today.
Dwomoh Owusu shows his talent.
The Prempeh boys were there as early as 7am with some of the
buses leaving campus around 5am in the morning.S ome devout young Amanfoo did
not even wait to take their breakfast and boarded the buses en route to Obuasi with
discipline at the back of their minds. Day one is very important in every
competition. Some school of thought says that the beginning determines the
end.
At around 9am, our athletes were on the Len Clay sports stadium in their
usual green and white track suits warming up for the occasion. The boys are
determined to fight for the college and with some promises and donations
coming from some old boys such as Coach Agyengo, the morale is very
high.
Amanfoo who had all arrived at that time gave the boys a standing
ovation and started cheering them up. Eric Goloe, Ghana's fastest youth runner
said that, "the praises from the boys at the beginning steered us on." He said
this after prempeh.org asked him about how he felt today winning all his
heat races.

The competition today started with the field events. Over the years, the
problem of Prempeh College has been with the field events as the track
events are always won by us. Geniuses like Samuel Adade, Land Cruiser have all
shown their class on the track. As a matter of fact, the coaches spent so much
time training the field event athletes. In the triple jump
competition, Prempeh's sports prefect and ace striker for the college's
soccer team, Collins Amponsah, who is now the record holder at the inter-schools
competitions took the first position while Silvano Julio also known as
"Prempeh Brazillian" came second. Julio is a form three student in Serwaa
house whose talent was discovered some few weeks before the inter-co.
In the shot putt, Prempeh's Karikari Jeffrey came 2nd while Sabat Adusei took
the 7th position in the pole vault.
