Superzonal argument

Saturday, February 18, 2006

As always, our songs make superzo lively. But are we going to be there to sing this time?
As we reported yesterday, the school authorities allowed only 4 students from each class to travel to the Adansi district to support our athletes at Obuasi's Len Clay Stadium.

Now, the Student Representative Council has a task of convincing the masters and authorities of the college so as to permit majority of the student body if not all to witness the super zonals in two weeks time.

Some section of the students believe that without the support and cheers of the boys, our athletes cannot make any strides when they compete with the vociferous Osei Tutu, Kumasi High and Opoku Ware Secondary.

They also do not understand the qualification for selection of the students, be it on academic or extracurricular grounds.

When prempeh.org talked to the athletes, they also shared the same concern. Ahmed, the inspirational soccer captain who has joined the bandwagon of athletes and is doing very well, said, "we need the student body to come cheer us".

The venerable Senior Prefect Ampong S.O. has taken upon himself to sit down with the authorities and find ways and means of making it to Obuasi with majority of the students to support our athletes.

The authorities are afraid that our boys will take advantage of the long distance between Obuasi and Kumasi and spend some time in discos or engage in other forbidden acts.
