Prempeh wins

Friday, February 17, 2006

Collins and Ahmed.
The two footballers of the college who are also seen very well in athletics did show to all their talent today at the Len Clay sports stadium.

The two heroes of Prempeh College came unto the field today to win laurels for the college in the 110m hurdles.

As was expected, the whole place went wild. Ahmed is known by all the athletes from the various schools. While the ladies were screaming his name, the few Prempeh guys who went there were also praising Collins so as to give both of them the inspiration to run. Though the race was very tough, Collins came out first followed closely by Ahmed. The judges could not tell who actually came first as they finished on the line at the same time. Nevertheless, the 9 points awarded was in the name of the college.

Prempeh's quartet for the 4 x 400m race, however, could not pick the maximum points at stake as they came second while Kumasi Anglican took the first position. The contest that has seen everyone yelling and which of course is the last for the day, the 4 x 100m, featured a Prempeh team spearheaded by Eric Goloe, the fastest youth runner in Ghana. Our quartet took the first position.

Some old boys were present today to cheer the boys up. Atiso Amoroso who completed school last year was there and a host of Amanfoo who work at the Obuasi Goldfields were also present.

In the end, Prempeh came first with a maximum of 175 points while the second school, Tepa Secondary had 95 points with Kumasi Anglican taking up the third place with 65 points. The difference between the score of Prempeh and that of the 1st runner up tells how equipped our boys are.
