Interco may be held at Prempeh

Thursday, January 5, 2006

Owing to renovation of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium (formerly Kumasi Sports Stadium) by the government of Ghana, the stadium is being closed for several months.

Prempeh stadium may be the site of this years interco competition

This has affected this year's edition of the inter-schools and colleges athletics competition which is traditionally held at the stadium.

According to sports master Mr. Asibey, the Sports Council will meet after school reopening to select between Prempeh College stadium and Obuasi's Len Clay Stadium for the competition.

The competitions begin for the first zone in early February; Prempeh and fellow Zone 3 members compete in the 3rd week of February, with the last zone (Zone 4) competing on February 24. The Super-Zonals will be held thereafter.

Meanwhile, Prempeh sports master, Mr. Isaac Lartey, left Ghana yesterday for Kenya, where he will be undertaking a coaching course.

Mr. Lartey is expected to study in Kenya for 3 weeks.

He will return in time for training of the athletics teams for the inter-schools athletics and cross-country competitions.
