Prempeh's Goloe to represent Ghana in World Youth Athletics
Friday, July 1, 2005
Eric Goloe, the Super Zonal champion in 200 metres, 400 metres and 800 metres
has been selected to represent Ghana at the World Youth Athletics Championship to be held in Morrocco
this month.
This is the famous, multi-talented Eric Goloe, Ashanti Regional "Athlete of the Year 2004" winner, who set the
Superzo record this year. He is representing Ghana at the World Youth Athletics championship
in Morrocco in July 2005. He is also one of our star soccer players who just won the prestigious Milo National football championship.
He will leave for Morocco on July 11.
He was selected because of his record of 10.7secs in the 100 meters at Superzo this year.
They chose one representative from each African country and in Ghana, his time of 10.7 secs is
the best, hence the automatic choice.
This honour comes just a few weeks after Eric and a few of his school mates won the prestigious
Milo National soccer trophy for Prempeh. He was also selected for the national under-17 soccer team.
Eric Goloe won the Ashanti Regional "Athlete of the Year" for the year 2004.
This is not the first time Prempeh boys have been asked to represent the nation.
Last year,
Samuel Adade led the junior athletics team to Australia. Adade, the West African juvenile 100m and
200m champion, broke the African Junior Athletics Games record in Togo. He was a reserve in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece and participated in the Ghanaian contingent's march during the opening ceremony of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
Six Prempeh boys were chosen to represent Ghana in an International Games in basketball in the USA a year ago. The Coach of the team was
also from Prempeh.
