Adade Cruises in Juvenile Olympics

May 13, 2004

The olympics that ended recently in Nigeria saw Prempeh's fastest runner in recent years sweeping all the gold. Samuel Adade (Maurice Greene) who belongs to the class of 2002, won the 100m and 200m races as well as the 400m race. During the 4x100 race, Samuel Adade led the Ghanaians to take the gold and thus set a new record at the olympics in Nigeria. The ocassion was the All-Africa Juvenile Athletics Competition that saw some members of the current Prempeh football team also competing in the football academicals. Our footballers have since returned to campus to prepare for the impending VALCO National Football championships in Sunyani.

This is a truly fantastic year for Prempeh, having had 2 Prempeh boys already qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

The National Under-23 soccer Team, the Black Meteors, captained by Prempeh's own Yussif Chibsah, qualified for the 2004 Athen Olympics by defeating Zambia 2:0 in the qualifying series in a bid to pick a ticket for the Olympic Games.

Besides Chibsah, another Prempeh boy on the national team is Edmund Owusu Ansah, both of Asante Kotoko FC. It may be recalled that these 2 outstanding Amanfoo led the national team to win a bronze medal at the All Africa Games in Abuja, Nigeria, where ironically they won at the expense of the Zambians.
