The day promised to be good and great early in the morning since
the clouds were clear a day after it had rained all day.
Nonetheless, the much-awaited prempeh.org party was to be organised
and attended no matter what. The rain had poured since morning
and around 8pm, it had even increased in its force but Amanfoo
as we all know were not intimidated.
At around 9pm, about 12
members of the class of 2005 who were celebrating this occasion arrived in
a car and headed straight into the club.
Others who completed in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002 were also there at 9.40pm.
The Dj for the occasion, Andy Dosty of Hello FM had arranged some cool and hot
songs to be played ranging from R&B, hiplife, hi-life and hiphop as well as some Gospel,
which were the songs that started the whole show.
The old boys not only came but were present with their abudeys who also completed various
schools such as St Monica's, Kumasi Girls, Wesley Girls, St Louis and of course our beloved YAGSS.
After about 30 minutes, some of the masters were in the house, majority of which are new Sofoline teachers who
joined the teaching staff not long ago. They came and entered the club quickly because the rain was pouring
heavily this time. The masters led by the experienced teachers who had been in the college for a long time
such as Mr. Isaac Agyenim Boateng, Mr. Asare
Bediako (Guy Gee), who spent some few minutes with us,
Mr. Agyekum (Paoo), Mr. Asiedu, Mr. Kusi, Mr. Okyere Darko and Miss Gifty Mantey.
The men who are in charge of Information Technology on campus were not left out, since they are fans of prempeh.org themselves.
The presence of Mr. Joseph Akoto and Mr. Kwakye were strongly felt over there with a host of other teachers who made it to the place.
In all, we had a number of 21 teachers at the party grounds. Majority of the teachers could not make it because of the
rain and we were also informed by Guy Gee that some went to funerals of their friends and they might have been beaten
by the rain so they were getting some warmth with their families. The programme had started with the DJ playing a lot
of songs nd people "boogeying" to the tunes with their girl friends.
At the entrance to the club, people were made to vote for the student that they think was the most
disciplined out of a short-list of 3 students as well as who they think was the most outstanding prefect
and the Favourite teacher since entering into Form one untill completion.
The masters then were invited to come and have their meals that were prepared by McKeown Catering.
This the masters did with delight since the class of 2005 had honoured them very well.
Senior Asiamah Enest Amponsah took home the Prempeh.org Award for the Most Disciplined student.
The Prempeh.org Prize for Outstanding sports men went to:
Senior Martin Osei Nyarko (Apio), Senior Ebenezer Amoah and Senior Kenneth Owusu Ansah, three of the seven members of the class that helped the football team win
the national Milo football trophy.
Prempeh.org Prize for Most Outstanding Prefect went
out to Senior Obed (the Chapel Prefect), who happened to be
the first-ever student featured in our Leaders of Tomorrowseries.
Obed won almost all the votes cast.
Prempeh.org Prize for the Most Outstanding Achievement in Academics was awarded jointly to:
Senior Asiamah Ernest, Senior Kofi Tawiah and Senior Kwame Danso, who also took part in the National Science and
Maths Quiz for the college in 2005. Eventhough we did not win, these boys
set a record in the quiz.
Prempeh.org Favourite Teacher Award also went to Mr. Okyere-Darko who won the Ashanti Regional Best Teacher
award last year and is the housemaster of Opoku Ware house.
After the presentation of the awards, the masters left and the place was now filled with only
students and the old boys with their "wives" who enjoyed the music that was being played in the
air till each person responded to mom's call and left around 5a.m.
The class of 2005 will forever remember this occasion and it will go in the annals of Prempeh College.
Had it not been for the rain that disrupted the programme causing about 258 people to turn up, we would have
recorded a high number of people. But it was so surprising to see some old boys of Kumasi High
and Kumasi Anglican present while Amanfoo who this party was organised for were away.
To all the old boys espeacially the class of 2005 who could not turn up, we had a nice time and next year,
do not be left out.
Prempeh.org wish the class of 2005, Mr Owusu-Achiaw's first form one class, success in their exam.
