Abednego "Pirrow"Agyei Mensah

He graduated in 1979. He was a 400, 200 and 100 meters runner. He was so dominant in the 400 and 200 meters. He was selected for the then Ghana Academicals and won a lot of laurels. AMASS had two national athletes in Amakye and Carter but Abednego would always anchor Prempeh to the 4 x 4 even if he gets the baton in the last position. He was probably the most domineering athlete of our time. Two of his most memorable races were the finals of the 400 x 4 and the 200 meters finals of 1979. In the 400 x 4, AMASS was leading the field with Prempeh in a distant fourth. The third person for Amass was Amakye, a national athlete in the 400meters. Amakye took the baton about 40 meters before Abednego received the baton from S.K.A.B. Crabbe of Pearson house. Abednego started the race with his signature "stretchings." By the 250 meters mark, Abed was at Amakye's heels. The stadium came to a stand still and Amanfoo started the usual "Kyere won, kyere won, kyere won se ye tu mmireka oow Parrow." At the 300meters mark Abed just raised his hands and waived to the fans in the stadium and bolted like a jet. Infact he finished the race 20 meters ahead of Amakye and handed the baton to the late Bannor Mensah (Changes) of Osei Tutu house. To crown that effort, Abed took the 200 meters in grand style. The 200 meters fielded the great Agyenim Boateng (Emperor) of Prempeh and Chief of AMASS. These two athletes were national athletes and were tipped by many to win the race. At the sound of the gun Chief and Agyenim Boateng jumped to the lead. They seperated themselves from the rest of the pack. However, from nowhere Abed caught up with them at the 100 meters curve and went on to win the race.

Abukari "Jaafia" Mohammed

Probably the greatest long distance runner in the history of the school. Amanfoo would remember the non-stop Sammamo that we danced to anytime the 10,000 and 5,000 meters were underway. He also lead Prempeh to capture the Cross-Country races at Akrokeri. (Amanfoo may remember the song " Jaafi,Jaafia anokwa trainning na wuwoo wo bo mmoden"). A champion long distance (800, 1500, 5000, and 10,000 meters) and cross country runner for such a long period. His dynasty lasted for....(only God knows!!).

Adusa "T Machine" Amankwaa

A table tennis maestro who kept the school winning for a long time.

Nicholas "Nick Carter" Kankam

He gave us so much joy over the years, as a starter of the 4 x 400 squad. Very fast indeed.
