January 21, 2007: Where are they now, Part II: Douglas Nyame
This week, the focus is on Douglas Nyame (also called Manchester United), 2004 Sports Prefect, one of the greatest defenders
in Prempeh history.
Douglas has moved from the Division II team Anderson University (South Carolina) to Liberty University in Virginia, where he will play on
full scholarship in the more prestigious Division I.
Next month (approximately March 9), he will try out for the PDL (Professional Development League) in Atlanta. If he
qualifies, he will play in that league in the summer. FC Dallas' Dominic Oduro used the PDL as a stepping stone to making it to the MLS. It
may be recalled that Oduro of the Class of '99 was a key player for the PDL's Richmond Kickers.
Nyame is destined to be the second Ghanaian (and second Amanfoo) to enter the US league (MLS). Luckily for him, 2 Liberty University players got
drafted into the MLS in this year's draft.
All the scouts will get to see Douglas in the summer PDL league.
What Anderson University has lost is Liberty's gain.

Douglas always credits Mr. Lartey for his success.
He won many awards during the 2 seasons he played at Anderson. The last of the many
awards he received was a feature article in the University's journal, which he dedicated to his mentor, Mr. Isaac Lartey.
