November 5, 2006: Aggrey House: Catch us if you can

Welcome to Aggrey - a house with a great heritage and a bright future.

Aggrey is great; Africast founder John Sarpong once lived here at a time when Senior John "Chief" Kufuor of "Hotel Kufuor" fame was Aggrey's House Prefect in the early 1980s. Further, Dr. K. Duffuor, our former great Governor of the Bank of Ghana, was one of Aggrey's great sportsmen on the 1960s.

But those who attened Prempeh in the old days remember how Aggrey never amounted to very much in the domain of sports. Besides the achievements of the great Abukari "Jaafia" Mohammed -- the greatest long distant runner of all time -- and the great sprinter Abednego "Pirrow"Agyei Mensah, Aggrey has not achieved anything in sports. Until you recognize what the Aggreyans have achieved recently.

Aggrey is the house that has produced 3 successive soccer captains for the Prempeh team, won the national Football Player of the Year award and sent 3 players to the professional football leagues around the world in the last 3 years. In addition, their outstanding forn one class has adapted a "we-refuse-to-lose-attitude," beating all the other great houses and leaving their mark on the Prempeh school team within a few weeks of their arrival. Their recent 8-0 thrashing of Serwah House sums up their mettle.

Aggrey's 2006/07 football team which features some outstanding form one boys that have already been picked for the school. In the ongoing prempeh.org soccer league, Aggrey demolished Serwah 8-0, Osei Tutu 5-1, Pearson 3-1, Butler 4-3.

Captain of the 2005/06 Prempeh team Ahmed Deedat of Aggrey, displaying his Best Defender Award from the 2006 National Milo Championships. Ahmed now plays for Swedish first division side Bunkeflo IF, which will provide him the stepping-stone to reaching greatness in Europe.

Captain of the 2004/05 Prempeh team Martin Osei Nyarko of Aggrey (2nd from left) now plays for Tano Bofoakwa FC in the Ghana premier league. He succeeded 2003/04 Prempeh captain Chibsah Faisal (the second Chibsah) also of Aggrey. Thus, Aggrey has produced 3 successive school soccer captains. Former goalkeeper Sampson Otoo (extreme left), also from Aggrey is Ashanti's best goalkeeper who almost qualified for the national under-17 team this year. Otoo will likely get a soccer scholarship to the US next year, where he will join his former Aggrey team mate Chibsah on the same university soccer team.

And here is one of the new goal scoring machines for Aggrey - Bismark Brobbey, also in form one. Bismark has 3 goals to his credit, while Philip Osei-Bonsu of Aggrey has 5 goals and Asafo Adjei of Aggrey has 7 goals.

Having ended Butler's recent dominance, Aggrey is here to dominate football for at least the next 3 years and, only a better organization of an equally talented Pearson side or perennial football power Guggisberg can prevent that.
