December 19, 2005: Some Stunning Achievements
of Prempeh.org: Part IV: Our Soccer League completed
"I am Paul Manu. I was awarded the Most Valuable Player.
Thank you for the prizes you gave, the sound systems, television, boots,
irons and shirts. God bless prempeh.org. Keep doing that."

The Prempeh.org Soccer Challenge (Inter-Houses Soccer League) has come to an end
after several weeks. The awards were presented on Speech Day, December 10, 2005.
Each house was scheduled to receive a special item just for participating in the league, but in the end,
prempeh.org opted to withhold the rewards for Ramseyer, Opoku Ware
and Serwah houses, who forfeited three
matches between them. While Serwah avoided a fixture because of fear of losing, Opoku Ware missed one game because it coincided with a fun fair at Yaa Asantewaa Girls which
they opted to attend. Ramseyer refused to honor a match because they didn't fancy the field assigned for the game.
The new Old Boys Association president, Dr. Osei Kuffuor, who had just taken over that office from Dr. Akosa, and presented the awards with Dr. Oteng Amoako, praised us for breaking the monotony
of "books, books, books as speech day prizes." For the first time, prempeh.org introduced a variation in prizes presentations, offering very expensive items the boys cherished, instead of the repetitiousness
of book awards.
Each of the houses were also awarded pressing irons, so that members of each house
could easily find means of ironing their clothes. Irons are probably the most sought after and fought over items in the school and we were very
happy to award them to each of the houses, except for the 3 aforementioned houses. Besides the irons, the following prizes were awarded.
Freeman House was awarded the prize for The Most Disciplined team (on and off the pitch).
This prize, which was a surprise to the entire school, was the first award to be presented. None of the houses
knew that such an award would be available. Not even the headmaster knew that such an award was at stake; it was just a secret between prempeh.org and the sports master.
We observed the actions of the teams and their fans all throughout the league.
Here we see Collins Amponsah of Freeman, the Sports Prefect, accepting the stereo CD/Tape player for the house.

Osei Tutu House, which won the 3rd place in the league, took the 3rd place prize of a DVD player, which is intended for their
House Common Room, not the House master's bedroom.
On the top of their DVD player is a set of 18 prempeh.org soccer league memorabilia (t-shirts) for their 18 players.
Congratulations to Osei Tutu, the house we thought had no chance of even
winning a game. When we wrote the preview of the teams in July, we had nothing to write about OT because we felt they were bereft of talent.
But look at them now!

Aggrey received their award for being runners-up. They received for their Common Room a stereo CD/Tape player.
On the top of their stereo is a set of 18 prempeh.org soccer league memorabilia (t-shirts) for their 18 players.
Congratulations.
Aggrey boys showed us that it is better to draw games than lose them. So many draws and no loses guarranteed them the second position.

Aggrey boys claiming their award at the 56th Speech Day. Silly as they are, they placed some batteries
into the system and started playing it right on the Speech day assembly grounds. Once again, this machine is intended for the house Common Room,
which they will use to enjoy music on weekends, not for the house master's house.

Butler House, the league champions, received
their TV/DVD player for their Common Room. On the top of their TV-DVD player is a set of 18 prempeh.org soccer league memorabilia (t-shirts) for their 18 players.
Butler boys were extremely brilliant in this league. They went undefeated.

Butler takes the ultimate prize.

Paul Manu of Butler, also called K. Manu, who was adjudged the Most Valuable Player in the 2005 League,
was awarded not only a personal trophy for keeping, but also an expensive
Nike soccer boots. We tricked him into giving us his shoe size without him actually realising that he had
given us his size. Paul was so grateful and felt so touched by the gifts that he called us to thank us for the prize.
He further wrote in to show his gratitude. Congratulations to the first form one boy to play on the Ashanti Regional football team.

Eben Asuming Dankwah of Butler, who topped the scorers chart with 10 goals in 8
matches received the goal king trophy (with his name and a citation engraved on it)
and a Nike soccer boots.
