June 26, 2005: Recent Events on Campus (May-June 2005)

This is a recording of the most significant recent events on the Prempeh College campus.

[These pictures are spread on 2 pages].

Our friends from the South Carolina Capital School arrived for their annual exchange program on June 7, 2005. Interestingly, June 7 was the date they visited last year.

Construction of the new Assembly Hall just began.

Blood donation exercise begins at the dining hall. The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has said that, it would meet blood demand by the end of the year. In pursuit of this goal, they started their blood donation campaign at Prempeh College on June 7.

This is Form 1A2: only two students were found here during the teachers strike. The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) went on a strike and so the Prempeh teachers were not teaching.

The other side of the new assembly hall to replace some portion of the demolished Slaughter House.

The masters relaxing at the administration block during the strike. This is what the prefects thought was insipid and callous. The Senior Prefects said that since the strike began, the masters stopped coming for morning assembly. However, few hours after the service, masters from all corners of the campus show up at the administration block and start chatting. So they (the Prefects) decided to skip morning service, in an exercise that will show the masters what bad example they were setting for the prefects. From left to right, we have: Mr. Dwamena, 3rd Asst headmaster; Mr. Godwyll (Prof Sam), Barimah (Aggrey housemaster), Mr. Atiemo (Senior housemaster). They are holding pencils donated to them by our Carolina friends at their arrival.

Some serious studies being undertaken by the Form 1 boys during the strike. The Headmaster asked them to keep a united front in the face of adversity.

During the strike action, this is how the class of Form 1A1 looked like.
